Kelly O'connor

Hi, my name is Kelly O'connor, and I am a Tack 'n Togs Brand Ambassador. I am also a South African Pony Showjumping Champion, South African Junior Equitation Champion, Phillip Smith winner, 2x South African Adult Showjumping champion, Derby Winner and a 2x Blouberg Cup winner, But my goal is to Win a world cup and one day hopefully the world cup series. I would also would love to win the Presidents Cup one day and defend my old titles.

My current horses are: Tack ‘n Togs Illiano, currently my top horse competing in the 1:50m classes. This is quite a new partnership for me, I picked up the ride on this gorgeous Toulon stallion from former owner Zahn Bosman and just fell inlove with him immediately, we’ve competed in 3 Grand Prixs with two podium finished (a 2nd & 3rd). I would love to bring home a big win on this boy in 2023.

Tack ‘n Togs Capital Moonlight is hot on Illianos heels. I first had the pleasure of riding Moon , a gelding by Chin-Win , while on the Capital Auction as a 5yr old, he was my pick of the auction and I was fortunate enough to be his auction production rider. Moon found his way back to me as a 7yr old jumping 1:20m, he went on to win the 7yo Showjumping and Potential Showjumper in the prestigious Young Horse Performance Series aswell as the 1:30m Gauteng Showjumping Championships. We then made the long trek to Europe where he competed up into the 1:40m during the indoor season , being the superstar that he is I just couldn’t let him go and dragged him back home with me in 2022. This year we are looking to break into the 1:50m classes.

Tack ‘n Togs Leila has quite the story and a very special place in my string of horses aswell as in the hearts of a special few people.I bought Leila as a 4yr old from Dominey and Karen Alexander of Cellehof Stud . Leila won the 5yo Potential showjumper of her year in the Young Horse Performance Series and was sold on as a 6yo. She found her way back to me at the beginning of 2022 and joined us in Europe to campaign , she had a fantastic 6th placing in the 1* GP during the indoor season before travelling home with Moonlight, unfortunately during the home trip there was queries with her blood tests, resulting in her then having to be flown to Kenya in order to keep her alive. She made the trip down from Kenya to Zimbabwe where she waited out her quarantine process and clear blood results before returning home finally after a year of travelling. Leila is an absolute winner and this year I will focus in getting her fit and strong to end off the year in the 1:40m ranks.
